Choosing the right kids' mattress: the key to sleeping well and growing well
Sleep accounts for more than half a newborn's day and remains crucial right through to adolescence. An unsuitable mattress: too soft, too thin or poorly ventilated, can disrupt sleep, harm posture and slow recovery. At Mon Lit Cabane, every kids' mattress is selected to meet precise criteria: spinal support, breathability, certified materials and compatibility with our house beds, single beds and baby beds.
Our range covers every stage, from birth to adolescence, with formats ranging from 40x80 cm for a crib to 140x200 cm for a double bed.
Which mattress for which age and bed?
For baby (0–3 years): firm, breathable mattress
Safety standards for baby bedding require a firm mattress that does not hug the body and limits the risk of suffocation. Our Luna mattress (7 to 9 cm), made from high-resilience foam, meets these requirements from birth. It is available in 40x80, 40x90 and 60x120 cm to fit cribs and convertible baby beds.
For child (3–12 years): medium mattress, enhanced comfort
This is the key age: children grow fast, sleep more deeply and start developing preferences. For beds with safety rails, the famous Perséphone model (12 cm): available in 70x140, 80x160, 90x190 and 90x200, offers a high-density foam + coconut + latex core for optimal support and increased durability. The Thalie (12 cm), available notably in 105x190, suits intermediate formats. The Léto mattress (9 cm), compact and versatile, is ideal for trundle beds thanks to its controlled thickness.
For pre-teen and adult: thick mattresses, great comfort
For a single or double bed without rails, you can opt for thicker models if you wish. The Uranie model (14 cm) incorporates a memory-foam layer for a soft feel without sacrificing support. The Érébos (13 cm) are designed specifically for double beds, in sizes 140x190 and 140x200. The Séléné mattress (15 cm), in foam and coconut, completes this premium range.
Materials: foam, latex, coconut… what's the difference?
- High-resilience (HR) foam: Light, breathable, economical. Good durability if density is sufficient (≥ 25 kg/m³ for a child).
- Natural latex: Elastic and hypoallergenic, it adapts to body movements and naturally returns to shape. Ideal as a comfort layer.
- Coconut (coir fibre): Very firm, breathable, suitable for babies and toddlers. Recommended as a mattress core for 0–3 years.
- Memory foam: Moulds to body shape to reduce pressure points. Reserved for older children (from 6–8 years), as it is too enveloping for infants.
Our models often combine several materials to bring together the benefits: the Perséphone (foam + coconut + latex) and the Uranie (foam + latex + memory foam) are good examples.

FAQ: Kids & baby mattresses
What mattress thickness for a child?
For a baby (0–3 years), a thickness of 7 to 10 cm is sufficient and guarantees safety. For a child aged 3 to 10, aim for 9 to 12 cm. Beyond that, 12 to 15 cm offer adult-level comfort suited to pre-teens and older children.
Foam or latex mattress for a child?
Both are suitable. HR foam is lighter and more economical; latex is more elastic, more durable and very hypoallergenic. Our mixed models (foam + latex) offer the best of both.
Which mattress for a house bed with safety rails?
The Perséphone (12 cm) in 70x140, 80x160, 90x190 or 90x200 is specially designed to fit our beds with rails. It leaves enough clearance for safe use.
Which mattress for a trundle bed?
The Léto (9 cm) is ideal: compact, it fits perfectly into the limited space of a trundle bed while offering enough comfort for nights or guests.
From what age can a baby sleep on a memory-foam mattress?
Springs and memory foam are not recommended before 6–8 years. For babies, a firm foam or coconut mattress is the safest solution.
How to look after a kids' mattress?
Turn the mattress every 3 to 6 months for even wear. Use a waterproof mattress protector from day one. In case of a stain, clean with a damp sponge and a mild product. Most of our covers are removable and washable at 40°C.
What are the delivery times for mattresses?
Fast-delivery mattresses are shipped within 24 to 48 hours. Made-to-order models are delivered within 2 to 3 weeks. Delivery is available throughout Europe.
